Geppetto, a gentle woodcarver, carves a marionette to be his substitute son and a good fairy brings the toy to life. Yet he is not a human boy. He must earn the right to be real by proving that he is brave, truthful and unselfish. Even with the help of Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio gets into trouble. Yet, when he discovers that Geppeto has been swallowed by a whale, he selflessly risks his life to save his father.
